When advertising law and employment law intersect…

Advertising law isn’t just about misleading claims, trademarks and copyrights, as this AdAge.com article demonstrates. The article discuses the settlement of a lawsuit between WPP’s Grey Global Grou and Foote, Cone & Belding and its parent Interpublic Group of Cos that charged Grey’s former CEO breached his employment contract and fiduciary duties owed to Grey by recruiting two Grey employees for FCB.

Blockbuster settles some “No Late Fees” claims

AdAge.com reports that Blockbuster has settled suits from 47 state attorneys general in disputes that challenged the company’s “No Late Fees” campaign on false advertising grounds. Blockbuster will pay $630,000 and will reimburse consumers who were charged “restocking fees.” The case brought by New Jersey’s Attorney General, which was the first suit filed, is still pending.
